Rising-6th Grade OPen House
Our rising-6th graders are going to learn more about DDMS in order to prepare them for the transition to middle school. Our Rising-6th Grade Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17th and Wednesday, April 17th starting at 6:00pm. We need Ambassadors to sign up to help greet our incoming students, show them around campus, help to answer questions, and show them that DDMS is a great place to be! Please indicate which nights you are available to help out. If you sign up to help, you need to be at DDMS by 5:30pm.
Career Day Helpers
We are holding a Career Day on Friday, March 2nd for students to learn about career options and learn about careers they are interested in. We need some Ambassadors to help show presenters to their designated presentation spaces from 8:00am until 8:25am. Please sign up below if you're interested in helping out.
Spring Student Leadership Retreat
DDMS students have incredible leadership skills - and we want to hone in on those leadership skills and sharpen them, all while building a sense of community within our school. At our Student Leadership Retreat, students strengthen leadership skills, communication skills, and character traits all while making themselves and DDMS even better. Our Spring Student Leadership Retreat will be on Saturday, April 28th in the morning. Our plan is to focus on making DDMS an even better place, both inside -AND- outside! Sign up below to register for our Spring Student Leadership Retreat and improve our school AND yourselves!
Spring Student LEadership REtreat PLanners
We need planners to help organize our Spring Student Leadership Retreat! Sign up below if you're interested in helping establish the schedule for the day, determining options for students, and discussing various ideas to make DDMS a great place to be!
DDMS is an incredibly diverse school and one of the reasons why we are THE BEST middle school in Wake County! Many of our students come from other countries and need help learning to speak English - and the best way to learn English is to speak it and practice, practice, practice! We need Ambassadors who are willing to have conversations IN ENGLISH with these students during SMART Block or during lunch. You can talk about whatever you would like - friends, movies, sports, weekend plans, vacations - the possibilities are endless! Very easy and a GREAT way to get to know other students while helping them learn English. Practice makes progress! Sign up below to become a Conversation Helper!
Special Needs helpers
Last year, we had several Student Ambassadors help out in our Special Needs classroom during SMART Block and it was greatly appreciated! Ms. Ellison, our teacher in the Special Needs class, is requesting Ambassadors this year who are willing to help out! This is a great opportunity for Ambassadors to gain an understanding of autism and allows our special needs students to participate in collaborative learning! Selected Ambassadors will be asked to help out once a week or once every other week (as needed and requested by Ms. Ellison). In order to participate, you must have a parent sign a permission form (found HERE). Sign up below if you're interested in becoming a Special Needs Helper!
We want DDMS students to have an IMPACT and Innovate, Master, Prepare, Achieve, Create, and Try. In order to get this message out, we want to create a video teaching students what IMPACT means and how they can IMPACT every day of their lives! Sign up below if you want to help create this video!
